Description

The Pont du Gard is a Romain aquaduct in the south of France. It was built to provide the city of Nemausus (Nîmes) with fresh water. Nowadays it is a very popular tourist attraction. The picture was taken during my vacation through Germany, Switserland and France.

In my teens (37 years ago), I climbed to the top with some friends and walked across. At one point the roof stones were gone so we had to drop down into the aquaduct to continue.

We were all drunk on TwistShandy.

I hear it's all blocked off now.
